FAQ

What is geocaching?

Quite simply, a permanent treasure hunt, constantly renewed, accessible close to home and available in all countries. To find out more, visit the Géocaching website!

What is a travel object?

A trackable object is a special piece of the geocaching game, which is used to travel from geocache to geocache. They are also called Trackables, TravelBug® or TB. Learn more at geocaching.com

How to activate a traveler object?

When you receive your travel item, scan the QR code on its ID card to access its tracking page. Activate it using the activation code on the card, give it a name and define its mission.
And there you have it, your item is ready to travel the world! 🌍

My traveler object is activated, what do I do with it?

Drop it in a geocache, and record your action on its tracking page. Other geocachers will pick it up from that cache and drop it in another. You can follow its adventures around the world and see the path it takes on the geocaching website.
Be the witness and actor of an incredible journey! ✈

Can I keep it with me?

Of course! Some TBs are designed to stay with you, like jewelry and cookie cutters.
You can add them to your collection on the Geocaching website, and share them with other geocachers when you come across them.

How are travel objects made?

I use epoxy resin. It is a two-component resin: I mix a polymer and a hardener, then I add pigments, inks, decorations and I mold everything to obtain pretty objects. Once hardened, I sand and polish then I add the TB code that I seal with UV resin (the same one used in nail salons). Then I create the identity cards of each object and there you have it, it's ready!

Is resin toxic?

It is highly toxic in its liquid state and during its polymerization (the phase during which it hardens). But rest assured: once it is hard, there is no longer any risk. Many everyday objects are made of epoxy resin – for example the interior coating of cans. To find out more: here is a link to the Wikipedia article.

Are these resin travel items sturdy?

Yes! They are water-resistant, friction-resistant, and can be dropped without breaking. Their weak point? Solvents, but you rarely find them in a geocacher's backpack.
High heat (above 70 degrees) can soften them, but they will regain their hardness when the temperature drops.

Are resin travel items durable?

Yes! The TB code is taken inside the resin: it cannot be erased by friction. The hardened resin is simply plastic. I design the TBs so that they can last over time, especially with sufficient thickness.
The jewelry is quite thin because it is subject to less stress – and is much prettier that way!

Have you tested the travel objects that you make?

Yes! I left my first experiments outdoors for more than 2 months. They got rain, sun (from the South of France – Hot!), light and fell several times. They turned very slightly yellow but that's it. Sheltered in the geocaches, they'll be fine!

Why is there a hidden area in the photos?

To hide the trackable code, which remains the property of the buyer. There is a special trackable code to discover on this site... If you haven't seen it, here it is: GTWADG

Is this site secure?

Yes, this site is hosted and secured by the Canadian company Shopify. They are also responsible for the security of banking transactions through the Shop pay application.

What are the delivery times?

Once your order is validated, it will arrive at the carrier the next day or the day after (except weekends). Once the package has been sent, the delivery times announced are D+3.

I haven't received my package, what should I do?

You can check the carrier's website with the tracking number you received by email. If the delay is abnormally long, send me an email at contact@geotopie.fr.

I want to return my package, how should I proceed?

Start by sending me an email at contact@geotopie.fr to let me know when the order has been returned, so that I can monitor its arrival in my inbox.
I am currently unable to cover return costs. Please return the package in the original bubble envelope, so that it is well protected. You can contact La Poste: the rates are inexpensive because the items are light.
Please note that it is not possible to cancel the activation of a traveler object on the geocaching site: it is therefore not possible to return activated TBs.

What is the deadline to change your mind?

Between the time your order is validated and its deposit with the carrier, you can send me an email; we will see together how to do it.
Then you have 30 calendar days after the package is delivered to return it.
Please note that it is not possible to cancel the activation of a traveler object on the geocaching site: it is therefore not possible to return activated TBs.
